Sex and the City – a show that has influenced generations of women and men, a show that taught even the most experienced something new about sex. Who didn’t shed a tear when in the final episode, Big flies to Paris to win back Carrie?
If you love Sex and the City as much as I do, and want to follow their tracks, here are 7 locations in Paris that were used for shooting the final few episodes.
1. Place Dauphine
Place Dauphine, 75001 Paris
Remember when Aleksandr take a stroll through Paris, him looking forward to his exhibition, and her excited about her French fan base? They were walking through what looked almost like a small park, but is in fact Place Dauphine. In the background you can see the restaurant “Le Caveau du Palais”, which – by the way – has delicious food.
2. Christian Dior
30 Avenue Montaigne, 75008 Paris
This is definitely one of the more embarrassing scenes in Sex and the City. Carrie walks into Dior, trips right away falling onto her knees, and the entire content of her bag scatters all over the floor. Who knows how many people already recreated that scene?
3. Hôtel Plaza Athénée
25 Avenue Montaigne, 75008 Paris
Directly across the street from Dior, you can find the hotel Carrie and Aleks stayed in – the hotel in which she finally met Big and realized that he was the one she wanted to be with. From here, it is also only a 10 minute walk to the Eiffeltower.
4. Place St. Sulpice
Place Saint-Sulpice, 75006 Paris
Do you remember that scene in which Carrie called Miranda via payphone and she finally realized that New York is where she belongs? Well, you can still find exactly that payphone at Place St. Sulpice – and maybe, just maybe, there’s still some of Sarah J. Parker’s DNA on there.
5. Cador Patisserie
88 Rue de Rennes, 75006 Paris
Carrie alone in a small café, and next to her a dog that she’s feeding – definitely one of the more memorable scenes. If you too want to feed a dog (or a friend) while eating expensive pastries while sitting in the same chair as the actress herself, Cador Patisserie used to be the place to go – that’s right, it’s gone. Instead, you’ll now find an organic restaurant in its place, with probably just as expensive food.
7. Le Pont des Arts
Pont des Arts, 75006 Paris
This is were the final scene was shot. Paris at night, Carrie and Big crossing a bridge, embracing, and finally stopping to kiss. Are you looking for romance? Then come here with your partner – at night of course – watch the stars, and re-enact Big and Carrie’s final scene.
